Arabian Nights is the first studio album by Icelandic model and singer-songwriter Freya, released by Universal Music Group. The album will be released on 21 October 2014. The lead single "Hellfire" was released on 22 July 2014.
Background[]
Work on the album began in Spring 2014 after Freya announced via her Twitter account that she signed a recording contract with Universal Music Group. She later stated she's interested in producing "80s inspired indie/synth/new wave music." In August 2014, she tweeted lyrics from each of the songs from the album each day revealing the track listing over ten days. The album was recorded entirely in Stockholm, Sweden. The album cover was revealed when the album became available for pre-ordering on 14 October 2014. Many media outlets have discribed the album as a "breakup album" and that it was inspired by Freya's relationship with ex-boyfriend Dirk Diamond.
Singles[]
In July 2014, Freya announced that the lead single from the album would be titled "Hellfire" and that it would be released on 22 July 2014. The lyric video for the song was released on 15 July 2014, a week before the song's official release. The official music video was be released on 22 July 2014.
In August 2014, Freya announced that the second single from the album would be "Witch Doctor" and that it'd be released when the album became available for preordering on 14 October 2014.
In December 2014, it was announced that "Gently" would be released as the third single from the album on 6 January 2015.
